"Butterfly Bakery gives us a market we don’t have to invent or manage every single day. If I get a flat tire, I’m not missing my one chance to sell that week. Our days are more predictable and our mission is clearer. We can focus on growing 15 crops really well instead of juggling 30 just to stay competitive at the farmers’ market. I can focus on farming instead of marketing."

West Farm

West Farm is a 10-acre non-profit vegetable farm with a mission to ensure that good, nutrient dense food is available to all in their community. Operated by Angus Baldwin and Holly Simpson in partnership with the Brewster Uplands Conservation Trust and the Vermont Land Trust, the farm sells fresh produce to schools, hospitals and institutions as well as through the Deep Root Organic Coop and a few retail stores.

Holly and Angus met in Johnson, VT in 2006. Their whirlwind romance included buying a truck and almost immediately driving to New Mexico where they spent their first winter together before returning to Vermont in 2007. After years of farm jobs for Angus and sales jobs for Holly, the two started Three Crows Farm in 2011, which they quickly outgrew. In 2015, they took the opportunity to move to West Farm, a former dairy on the property, and convert it into a 10 acre wholesale vegetable farm.

Today, Holly and Angus continue to find meaning in making and growing food for people. Together, they are working to continue the tradition of producing nutritious food for the community they love, with love.
