More About Our Guster Collaboration

It Started With a Song

When my husband and I first met, we bonded over our love of the band Guster - so much so that we chose “Do You Love Me” as our first dance at our wedding. We never missed a Vermont show and once brought along a goodie bag of BBVT treats to share. A couple of weeks later, lead singer Ryan Miller reached out to say thank you, and our conversation quickly turned to how great mustard is. My husband coined the word “Gustard,” and when I passed it along, Ryan’s response was perfect: “That’s the stupidest idea ever. Let’s do it.”

Doing Good, Together

From that silly idea of Gustard came something much bigger than mustard. Every jar of Gustard mustard and every bag of Gusternola granola sold by Butterfly Bakery of Vermont sends a portion of proceeds to Zeno Mountain Farm, a nonprofit dedicated to building lifelong communities for people of all abilities. This partnership is proof that food and music can do more than nourish and entertain - they can make the world a little better, one bite at a time. For both Guster and Butterfly Bakery of Vermont, flavor is only part of the story; giving back is what truly makes these products meaningful.

Shoutout to the Gusfam

The collective of Guster fans, affectionately known as the Gusfam, has always been at the heart of the band’s story. Creating condiments with Guster is our way of giving something tangible back to that community of people who have sung along at shows, traveled across states, and built friendships through music. Whether it’s a jar of Gustard mustard, a bag of Gusternola, or a bottle of Ooh La La hot sauce cooked up in our Vermont kitchen, Guster Goods carry the same joy, quirk, and heart that define the Gusfam itself. They are edible souvenirs of connection - proof that music and food belong at the same table.

A Little Weird, A Lot Wonderful

From the outside, it may seem unusual to dream up a mustard from a joke or a granola from a band conversation. But weird ideas are often the ones that stick - and in this case, they became something wonderful. Guster Goods lean into that playful spirit, offering small-batch mustards, granolas, and hot sauces that are just as unexpected and full of personality as the music that inspired them. Like a live show, no two batches are exactly alike, but each one is bold, memorable, and unmistakably tied to Butterfly Bakery of Vermont and the band that helped spark it all.
