Small Batch Traditional Goat's Milk Caramel
A Sweet Beginning - The Fat Toad Farm Story
Fat Toad Farm began in 2007 as a homesteading experiment with a single French Alpine doe named Jupiter. What started as a backyard project quickly grew into a beloved Vermont brand known for its rich, hand-stirred goat’s milk caramel sauces. Each batch is made using just a few fresh, all-natural ingredients and a traditional slow-cooking method that brings out deep, caramelized flavor.
Made with Milk from Vermont Farms
As the business grew, Fat Toad Farm transitioned from milking their own herd to working closely with local partners Ayers Brook Dairy and Joneslan Farm. These farms produce the mild, sweet goat’s milk that gives the caramel its smooth texture and signature flavor. It's a collaboration rooted in Vermont’s strong agricultural community and shared commitment to quality.
Continuing the Tradition
In 2022, Fat Toad Farm Caramel found its new home at Butterfly Bakery of Vermont in Barre. BBVT proudly continues the tradition of crafting caramel by hand in small batches, using the same time-honored techniques and simple ingredients. As part of BBVT’s award-winning farm-to-fork product line, Fat Toad Farm Caramel remains as rich, creamy, and true to its roots as ever.
