Butterfly Bakery of Vermont & Fat Toad Farm

Lester Farm
In 2005 Sam and Maura Lester, weary of the high-pressure lifestyle in Long Island, moved to Vermont to enjoy a slower pace and focus on farming.
Sam is a third-generation farmer who grew up on his mother’s Italian cooking and developed high standards for food. He won’t tolerate a tomato that’s not perfectly round or squeaky clean and of course… bursting with flavor!
The Lesters believe in being good stewards of the land and in preserving agricultural spaces and scenic beauty. They are committed to growing safe and affordable produce by adhering to good agricultural practices. Learn more about Lester Farm.

"Butterfly Bakery gives us a market we don’t have to invent or manage every single day. If I get a flat tire, I’m not missing my one chance to sell that week. Our days are more predictable and our mission is clearer. We can focus on growing 15 crops really well instead of juggling 30 just to stay competitive at the farmers’ market. I can focus on farming instead of marketing."

“We cannot overstate how beneficial and influential it has been working with Butterfly Bakery and just how impactful our relationship has been on the progress of our farm, getting us on track to grow peppers and seeing it as a viable commercial crop.”
