Honey Field Farm
Honey Field Farm in Norwich, Vermont was established in the spring of 2020 by Eli Hersh and Valerie Woodhouse. The 35-acre family farm, formerly the home of the legendary Killdeer Farm, includes 15 acres dedicated to growing certified organic vegetables, distributed to over 25 local and regional partners, including Butterfly Bakery of Vermont.
Lucky for us, Valerie and Eli have a special affinity for growing and enjoying hot peppers, which has become their largest crop. Over 50 varieties of peppers are grown at Honey Field, ranging from sweet bells to Carolina Reapers.
Featured Collaborative Product
Habanero Heady Craft Beer Hot Sauce
This sauce starts with one of Vermont’s most famous beers: Heady Topper from The Alchemist.
We combine that legendary double IPA with Vermont-grown habanero peppers to create a hot sauce that’s bright, bold, and packed with flavor. The beer adds subtle citrusy, hoppy notes while the habaneros bring a lively heat and fruity depth.
The result is a hot sauce that’s punchy, balanced, and a whole lot of Vermont in every bottle.
It’s especially good on tacos, grilled chicken, sausages, nachos, and anything that pairs well with a cold IPA. If it’s the kind of food you’d eat while drinking a great beer, this sauce will feel right at home.
Heat: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 (5/6)
Ingredients: Vermont orange habaneros, white vinegar, Heady Topper IPA, salt. * All produce is grown on a small farm within 200 miles of our Vermont kitchen

"Butterfly Bakery gives us a market we don’t have to invent or manage every single day. If I get a flat tire, I’m not missing my one chance to sell that week. Our days are more predictable and our mission is clearer. We can focus on growing 15 crops really well instead of juggling 30 just to stay competitive at the farmers’ market. I can focus on farming instead of marketing."

“We cannot overstate how beneficial and influential it has been working with Butterfly Bakery and just how impactful our relationship has been on the progress of our farm, getting us on track to grow peppers and seeing it as a viable commercial crop.”
