Most folks' favorite time of year is one of the 4 big seasons that you all know. My favorite time of year is right where we are right now.

Late summer. The punishment of heat and humidity has left the air, but you can still get away with wearing shorts if you want to. The evenings have that crisp "fall is here" feeling, but your snow shovel is still a distant thought. And when you go to the farmers market, you can smell the abundance. The air is thick with the scents of melon, corn, and apples, but tomatoes are still coming in strong. Late summer is a glut of all of the best parts of summer and fall wrapped into one and it is a time for feasting.

This month's trio of micros is the perfect capture of everything that I love about this time of year. Honey Cantaloupe is sweet and musky and perfect for eggrolls. Garlic Cauliflower is fantastic for wings or braised cabbage. And Tomatillo Corn. I mean, do we even need to tell you what is so wonderful about Tomatillo Corn? This is our third micro of it and it sells faster every time we release it.

Honey Cantaloupe: The fragrance of ripe cantaloupes is unmistakable. We combined Vermont-grown cantaloupes with honey and fruity red habanero to create this refreshing melon sauce. A perfect pairing for shredded beef tacos, fried egg rolls, or a spicy margarita.

Garlic Cauliflower: Earthy, nutty, and sweet, cauliflower is the perfect vegetable to turn Vermont’s short summer sun into something scrumptious. With a little garlic scape and red serrano, it is amazing with duck, braised cabbage, or grass-fed butter for a buffalo sauce. 

Tomatillo Corn: With science and magic, we have created the world's first drinkable burrito. Well, not really, but on first taste you might not be so sure! It’s the perfect pairing for rice and beans, chips and lager, and of course, regular burritos.
